Close to Home - very local honey is about more than just sharing exceptional, singular, divine honey with people with great taste (but sublime dining experiences are always on the agenda).
Bringing together our founder’s two trades: beekeeping and hospitality, we host events to showcase the remarkable lives of honey bees, and share the insights and adventures from working with bees on the road. The honey we harvest tells a story about the place it was foraged: beekeepers collaborate with our bees to bring back food and stories to share about the land we live on.
We are an enterprise built on relationships: each of us comes with unique skillsets, strengths and personal preferences, and our capacity shifts across time. By nurturing community connections and creating spaces to come together for celebration and play, we hope to give back to the beekeeping community, and invite more people into the remarkable world of the honey bee.
For beekeepers
We aim to share best-practice advice and provide feedback from the frontlines of beekeeping in Australia. As we learn to care for our hives in the era of varroa destructor, it is more important than ever to take care of our mental and physical wellbeing.
about us
"What is this dark hum among the roses? The bees have gone simple, sipping, that’s all." - Mary Oliver
